Our Experience With Leaks
At Green Earth Landscaping, LLC we have dealt with many different types of water loss issues over the years. Some of the problems are a quick fix, while others can require a more thorough process. In some cases, the pond has been neglected, or went long periods of time without any maintenance and has multiple leaks. Some ponds will require a complete renovation in order to function properly.

Understanding The
Basic’s Of A Leaky Pond
Pond Leaks are among the most misunderstood and misdiagnosed problems Pond owners can have in their pond. Understanding the basic principles of leak detection and repair will save you time, money, and headaches in your water gardening adventures … Sometimes it’s just evaporation! If you can’t figure it out, we service the Loudoun & Fairfax County, VA areas.
What is Evaporation?
First, let’s have a look at what evaporation is and what it isn’t. Evaporation is caused by water turning into a vapor and escaping from your pond. The amount of water loss will vary according to the region of the country and the time of year. Ponds that are located in our area of the country with moderate temperatures and high humidity can expect to see 2 to 2 ½ inches of water loss per week during the spring and summer. Most of this evaporation should be replaced naturally by rain. However, if you live in an area with higher temperatures and low humidity, it’s possible to see 4 inches or more of evaporation in a week.
